Proprietary Products Designed and Produced by SONARAY

Of the hundreds or even thousands of people selling lighting in the marketplace, I took a visit to ask SONARAY why someone should consider buying or selling their products. This blog will make the case for why they feel they offer a lot of advantages.

To begin, SONARAY pointed out that most all of the fixtures they sell are fixtures that have been researched, designed, engineered, and manufactured by SONARAY. They use only the highest quality LED chip sets and most of those chip sets are from Citizen Electronics, a longstanding and trusted name around the globe. For the most part they also utilize Meanwell drivers in the fixtures so there are two major components that add up to quality for the brand. They also utilize an anti-corrosive treatment on many of their products so that they meet quality standards for use in very harsh environments. For example, many of their flood lights are used in strenuous applications including bridges, barges, commercial fishing vessels, construction sites, and things of that nature. If anything, they most likely over-engineer or over-build the products. This can also be shown to be the case when you look at the IP and IK ratings that are associated with most of the brand’s products. They are really at the top of the list of manufacturers, or very near the top with their overall IK ratings with most coming in with ratings in the IK09 range. That means the fixtures are some of the toughest out there when it comes to impact resistance.

If you consider the IP rating for a lot of SONARAY fixtures, they too are very good. While maybe not quite as industry-leading as the IK ratings, they do, in a very broad range of products hold their own nicely or exceed many manufacturers in the market.

And while SONARAY is known for having a really strong line of LED flood lights that have been recognized in the marine industry, the brand is much more than a company who sells in that space.

With a wide representation from some of the most trusted manufacturing rep agencies in the lighting industry, SONARAY has really started to establish itself as a brand that offers industrial lighting that is synonymous with toughness, flexibility, and dependability.

One of the first generation products developed by the brand was the Matrix Light Bar. While still sold and very popular today, the Matrix has really inspired a second generation of Light Bar that is the Obi. Obi has a very sleek design, exceptional IP and IK ratings, really dynamic lumen output, and brings fine flexibility and pricing into its space. There are models of Obi that are NSF rated for food safety and processing applications, making the fixture popular in the candy, fruit, nut, poultry, and other food space industries. The Obi is also versatile enough to be used in natatoriums, for outside lighting, in automobile showrooms, and college bookstores. The Obi is also used in machine lighting where factories need great light to see the inner workings and mechanisms of heavy machinery. Top this off with a price that is really great when compared to similar products and the Obi is one of the most sought after and popular fixtures in the SONARAY line.

Still, SONARAY is not just a flood light and light bar type of company. With a heritage in manufacturing, the parent of SONARAY, DASCOM, is by heart a manufacturer. So, the company and brand knows a thing or two about difficult manufacturing processes, the need for excellent lumen output and toughness for areas such as quality control, workflow, shipping, receiving, and more. As such, SONARAY has a great and varied line of LED High Bay fixtures. These range from Ice Breakers, which are the more traditional type of high bay lighting all the way to linear offerings and the latest - a fixture called the LumaWedge. Borrowing on the concept of flexibility, LumaWedge comes in a wide variety of wattages - the wattage is changed by adding a “wedge” to the fixture. And not only are these fixtures tough, have great lumen output, IP ratings and the like, but they also can be angled within the housing of the fixture itself to throw light exactly where it may be needed. This is another innovative advantage for SONARAY that many others in the class just don’t offer.

Recently SONARAY has also gotten fairly heavily involved in solar offerings - something that not everyone out there can do or can do well. The brand has a wide variety of solar products that are great for area or flood lighting. With a line of area street lights, a solar Obi offering, and several all-in-one products, the latest of which comes with an AC backup in case the battery should happen to go while illumination is needed, SONARAY continues to innovate, but at a measured pace.

So, these are a few of things product-wise that help to separate SONARAY and make them a very viable choice on line cards of some really exceptional lighting firms. Next time, or at least in the future, I’ll delve more into some of the “intangible” on non-product related reasons of how the brand is different.
